element14 launches second phase of discount drive that serves dual purpose of highlighting ways to combat climate change

element14 has introduced a six-week winter sales initiative that challenges participants to save “Thermopolis”, a virtual city that is no longer able to manage its resources, running the risk of compromising its sustainability.

element14 customers who accept the challenge can join in online and be given access to special offers and discounts in exchange for ideas on how to solve the issues facing Thermopolis, resulting in viable solutions that will enable the city to improve living conditions, strengthen the natural environment and halt global warming.

To help make their recommendations, participants will be able to virtually travel through the city’s districts, observe dated, unsustainable practices and change them to take advantage of innovative and eco-friendly solutions.

The game is a combination of puzzle solving and trivia questions connected to IoT, energy consumption, and environmentally sustainable solutions. Each week, new elements of an online map of Thermopolis will be revealed and, with them, a new challenge. At the final stage of the competition, the game will ask a single-open ended question that requires participates to think creatively, with the winners decided by scoring questions answered correctly and puzzles successfully navigated. The winners will be informed by email in February 2023.

Aditya Moorthy, Vice President of Global Marketing at element14 said, “element14 cares deeply about global issues, including climate change, and we are always seeking ways to enable ourselves and our customers to develop greener and more sustainable solutions.

“This competition is an exciting and interactive way to think about a serious issue and we invite sustainability enthusiasts, buyers, engineers, students, and other interested professionals to take part. The challenge doesn’t require deep or specialist knowledge, but just a desire to help a fictional, online city achieve real-world sustainability.”

Everyone who enters will receive special discounts, while those who are judged to have submitted the most innovative suggestions will have a chance to win a range of prizes including Marshall speakers, an Apple watch, an Amazon Fire TV Stick and more.

Details for getting involved in the competition, currently underway until 14 January 2023, can be found here, terms and conditions apply.
