An Exclusive Chat With IndieSemiC

Interviewee :  Jinal Shah, Co-Founder & CMO , Indiesemic

Techmezine:  Please introduce IndieSemiC to our readers ?

Indiesemic is an innovative semiconductor startup located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. We specialize in creating advanced chipsets and modules. Our goal is to foster innovation in the semiconductor industry by offering affordable, high-performance solutions that adhere to international standards. We are particularly proud to be one of the first companies in India to develop a RISC-V-based ASIC chipset and RF module, designed for Home automation, Automotive, security, surveillance, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

Techmezine:  What sectors do your services majorly cater to ?

We offer product solutions that serve various industries, such as automotive, industrial Internet of Things (IoT), smart homes, consumer electronics, healthcare, security, surveillance, and wearable technology. We also meet the increasing demand for advanced computer accessories, gaming controllers, and devices that support wireless payments. Our products are designed to improve efficiency, connectivity, and overall user experience in these areas.

Techmezine: What sets your designs apart from the other companies?

Our designs are unique because they prioritize innovation, energy efficiency, and the ability to grow and adapt. We specialize in combining various communication protocols such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), WiFi, LoRa, GNSS/GPS, and NFC into single modules, which allows us to create flexible solutions for a wide range of uses. Our RISC-V-based chipsets and RF modules are designed to deliver high performance while consuming less power. We are dedicated to maintaining high quality standards, partnering with global technology leaders, and promoting a strong “Make in India” approach, which sets us apart from others in the industry.

Techmezine: How do you feel about the Electronics Manufacturing culture in India?

The electronics manufacturing scene in India is changing for the better. Programs like the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme and plans to set up semiconductor manufacturing facilities are major positive steps. However, the overall landscape is still developing. We’ve made progress in areas such as printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing and assembly, but there’s still a lot of work to do for OSAT and ATMP. We need to focus more on enhancing research and development (R&D) capabilities and building stronger supply chains for semiconductors.

Techmezine: Is the government doing enough to support new companies like yours ? Any suggestions ?

The government has taken several commendable steps, such as the DLI Scheme, PLI incentives, and support for startups through incubators and grants. However, challenges remain, particularly in streamlining access to funding, creating an ecosystem for advanced semiconductor manufacturing, and expediting regulatory processes. I would suggest focusing on establishing specialized semiconductor research centers, enhancing access to global markets, and incentivizing private investments in R&D.

Techmezine:  What are IndieSemiC’s plans for 2025? Kindly tell us about the plans that are in the pipeline ?

Indiesemic has an ambitious plan for 2025, focusing on several key projects:

ASIC Chipsets :  The company is launching its flagship ASIC chipsets aimed at IoT, automotive, and surveillance applications, offering tailored solutions for these industries.

RF Module Expansion :  Indiesemic will scale up production of its RF modules, which support technologies like BLE6, WiFi, LoRa, GNSS, and NFC. They aim to achieve global certifications to ensure compliance.

Improved Beacons :  The company is enhancing its low-cost beacons by integrating advanced technologies such as AoA and AoD. These improvements will facilitate smart navigation and sensor integration.

Global Collaborations :  To drive growth, Indiesemic is forming strategic partnerships with international firms for advanced fabrication and design, bringing in new expertise and resources to foster innovation.

Our vision for 2025 aligns with scaling our innovations to meet both domestic and global market needs while reinforcing India’s position in the semiconductor landscape.
