Researchers at the Michigan Technological University that has been led by professor Yoke Khin Yap states that the road to more versatile wearable technology is dotted with iron and basically  quantum dots of iron arranged on boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs). According to him these iron studdd BNNTs are now pushing up the boundaries of the hardware in electronics and we will be then looking beyond the semiconductors.
