A group of researchers have recently worked upon the development of a system that will be based on metamaterials that can transfer electricity between two of the circuits using these meta materials. This development has been done at University of Barcelona.

This system is although still in experiment  phase but is claimed to provide the solution for being able to charge the mobile devices wirelessly that too at longer distances. According to the researchers, metamaterial crowns allowed transmission efficiency to be increased by a factor of 35.
