Power Integrations and Cypress Semiconductor had recently announced that they had started a joint venture under which they will be describing the design of  a 20W, USB-PD compliant AC/DC power converter targeted at chargers for smart mobile devices. These designs are given the name  DER-533, that will pair along with EZ-PD CCG2 USB Type-C port controller from Cypres and some other  Power Integrations’ It will enable the designers to logically create a standard power adapter that is compatible and faster and more energy efficient.

Shyam Dujari,  who is the director of marketing for Power Integrations, said: “ this USB-PD will be the flexible power delivery  component that will be used with all the next generation mobile devices for charging purposes and will have a unified architecture for the use of power and data , it will rather be slim and robust in nature.”
