STMicroelectronics has brought the MIS2DH, application which is a three axis accelerometer specifically for medical applications. This would enhance the activity monitoring and posture sensing in medical applications. There has been an immense requirement for inbuilt implantable devices that could help to keep track over various issues such as high blood pressure, epilepsy, and tremor-related conditions.
Anton Hofmeister, general manager of ST’s Custom MEMS Division, said: “we have combined our expertise in motion-sensing with a robust set of procedures for developing, manufacturing, and testing devices that would aim at applications that meets the most important medical regulatory requirements, ST is contributing to important progress in this field by significantly lowering the cost and time-to-market barriers.”
MIS2DH is 2*2*1 mm, and operates on a voltage range of 1.71 to 3.6 V and takes power consumption down to 2µA in low-power mode.
