Analysts at MIT have disclosed a progression of sensors, memory switches, and circuits that they plan to encode into basic human gut bacterium. It is said these essential computing components will permit the bacteria to sense, retain, and react to signals in the gut, with future applications that may incorporate the early recognition and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease or colon cancer.
